The Standards 5.20(k) outline the safety considerations in sexual abuse cases.  It is important to know that whether sexual abuse is confirmed or alleged should not change the specific services which must be provided.  Before selecting a Monitor in a sexual abuse case, make sure that Monitor has experience in servicing the complex dynamics of child sexual abuse.  A truly qualified Monitor meet all of the following criteria above and beyond the Standards:
1.  Ability to conduct a thorough intake session to identify all case dynamics           that may heighten risks involving the visits.

2.  Obtain critical knowledge of any abnormal sexualized behavior in the child        and any factors that might affect the psychological ham to the child during         the visit.

3.  Provide the needed framework for a safe visit by using appropriate policies        and procedures to safeguard all participants.

4.  Possess written policies and procedures which describe the best practices          used to prevent the re-victimization of children.
